I’m happy to announce that I’ve joined the editorial ranks of Warscapes, the recently launched online magazine that Africa Is A Country rightly calls a remarkable publication founded by the equally remarkable Bhakti Shringarpure and Michael Bronner. Warscapes is “motivated by a need to move past a void within mainstream culture in the depiction of people and places experiencing staggering violence” and during its brief time thus far has met its mandate to showcase “great writing from war-torn areas” as well as offer “a tool for understanding complex political crises in various regions and serves as an alternative to compromised representations of those issues.” Through their tremendous commitment, industry, intelligence, and good taste, Bhakti and Michael have assembled an astonishingly dynamic (not to mention varied) collection of essays, analysis and visual arts that makes Warscapes one of the freshest, most beautifully produced resources for those of us interested in matters of the Global South.  Needless to say, I’m thrilled to be on board!
